Cambridge Water Company

Cambridge Water Company (CWC) covers an area of 453 square miles, which includes Cambridge city and extends to Ramsey and St Ives in the north, Balsham in the east, Gamlingay in the west and Melbourn in the south.

Boreholes drilled into the chalk strata south of Cambridge provide 97% of the water, while  3% comes from a greensand source to the west which feeds Gamlingay and the surrounding villages. Cambridge Water operates 23 water treatment works that process 73 million litres of water per day, supplying 300,000 people through 2,300km of water mains.

In 2013 CWC was acquired by South Staffs Water.
