Senior Project Manager – Highways

This integrated service provider is responsible for the maintenance and services of a significant number of UK highways and footpaths. This includes various initiatives such as Lining and Signing projects, Accessibility schemes, Urban Realm Improvement schemes, Sustainable schemes focusing on walking, cycling, and public transport enhancements, Capital maintenance projects for structures, street lighting enhancements, and Major resurfacing and footway relay schemes.

Salary:                    £60,000 per annum

Your new role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Project Manager to manage a team and oversee the project in it’s lifecycle.

In brief, your time will largely consist of

  • Take charge of the planning and execution of expansive, intricate projects from start to finish, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budget, and meeting the required quality standards.

  • Engage directly with Clients, representing their interests and communicating effectively with diverse audiences.

  • Formulate detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets while monitoring and reporting progress against them.

  • Guide and support a team of project managers and/or assistant project managers, offering direction and expertise in project management practices, processes, and tools.

  • Address and resolve project risks, issues, and dependencies, ensuring appropriate escalation when necessary.

  • Oversee programs of work, with project managers reporting on individual projects within the overall program.

About you

This role is ideal for a personable, flexible and responsive individual with a passion for team working. You will be expected to not only support your project team, but also work to improve the company operations and work winning, acting as a brand ambassador in everything you do.

Ideally you will tick most of the below:

  • Civil Engineering qualification and professional preferred

  • Proficient in managing the execution of traffic/highway engineering projects for a contracting firm, encompassing technical, health and safety, communication, and financial dimensions.

  • Proven track record of operating within contractual frameworks, with a preference for familiarity with NEC contracts.

  • Strong expertise in contract administration, demonstrated through past experiences.

  • Thorough comprehension of pertinent legislation governing project delivery, including the Highway Act, NRSWA Act, TMA Act, among others.

  • Proven experience to lead from initial exploration to detailed design, planning consent, and construction phases.
