Canal & River Trust
In addition to 2000 miles of rivers and canals, CRT is the undertaker for 72 ‘large raised reservoirs’ (as per the Reservoirs Act 1975 definition) in England. These have an average age of 195 years, ranging from Pebley Reservoir at 238 year old, to the 123 year old Winterburn Reservoir. CRT is also responsible for 1956 miles of towpath, 336 aqueducts, 1583 locks, 55 tunnels, 2663 listed buildings, 50 scheduled ancient monuments and 63 sites of special scientific interest.
