TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMTRY INTO CASE STUDY SUBMISSIONS PRIZE DRAWS (TERMS)

WaterProjectsOnline and the Water Projects Journal are publishing platforms for technical project case studies and Innovations & Technology papers from water companies, their project delivery partners and the wider supply chain.

In recognition of the conclusion of AMP7 and the commencement of AMP8, every case study submitted to Water Projects Ltd that (a) adheres to the editorial and photographic criteria as detailed below (Case Study), (b) has applicable client (water company, local authority, government agency etc) approval for publication, and (c) is published in the primary case studies section on WaterProjectsOnline (https://waterprojectsonline.com/) will be entered into the current, applicable Prize Draw (Prize Draw).

  1. The Promoter of each Prize Draw is Water Projects Ltd a company incorporated in England and Wales with company number 03851066.
  2. Each Prize Draw is open to all UK residents aged 18 years or over, except employees of the Promoter, their families, agents or any third party directly associated with administration of a Prize Draw (Participants).
  3. The Prize Draws to take place in 2025 are as follows:

Draw 1 Between 1 January 2025 and 31 March 2025 30 April 2025 £1,000.00
Draw 2 Between 1 April 2025 and 31 July 2025 31 August 2025 £1,000.00
Draw 3 Between 1 January and 30 November 2025 12 December 2025 1st prize: £2000.00
2nd prize: £750.00
3rd prize: £500.00
  1. Upon the Promotor receiving a qualifying Case Study from a Participant, the author of the Case Study will be automatically entered into the current Prize Draw.
  2. There will only be one entry per Case Study. Any Prize shall only be paid to the main author of the Case Study unless otherwise agreed by the Promotor.
  3. All entries must be submitted by email to [email protected]
  4. The Promotional Periods for the Prize Draws are stated in the table above. Once a Case Study is approved for publication, the Promotor will contact the Participant for approval for publication. Such approval must be received by 12pm the day before the Draw Date in order to be put into the current Draw. Case Studies received after this time will not be counted but will be entered into the next available Prize draw if possible.
  5. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for Case Studies not successfully submitted due to a technical fault technical malfunction, computer hardware or software failure, satellite, network or server failure of any kind.
  6. Each qualifying Case Study shall be allocated a number. A winner will be chosen by random draw performed by a computer process from the allocated numbers for that Draw (Winner) on the Draw Date of the Prize Draw specified in the table above.
  7. The Winner will receive the Prize detailed in the table above. If there is more than one Prize then the Promotor will repeat the process in clause 8 to pick other Winners from the remaining entries.
  8. A Winner will be notified by email or telephone (using details provided at entry) within 7 days if the Draw Date. If a winner does not respond to the Promoter within 30 days of being notified by the Promoter, then the winner’s prize will be forfeited and the Promoter will be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above.
  9. The prize of a Prize Draw will be sent to the winner by BACS transfer. The Promotor shall use reasonable endeavours to send the Prize to a Winner within 14 days of being notified of their win. The Promotor shall contact the Winner to verify bank details.
  10. The decision of the Promoter regarding any aspect of a Prize Draw is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it.
  11. The Promoter must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation the Promoter will send the surname and county of major prize winners and, if copies of their Case Study, to anyone who contacts the Promotor within one month of the Draw Date. If you object to any or all of your surname, county and winning entry being published or made available, please contact the Promoter at [email protected] However, in such circumstances, the Promoter must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
  12. Participants are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions upon entry. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse entry, or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.
  13. The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, or amend the promotion where it becomes necessary to do so.
  14. Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate a Winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees.
  15. In the event of circumstances outside the reasonable control of the Promoter, or otherwise where fraud, abuse, and/or an error affects or could affect the proper operation of a Prize Draw or the awarding of Prizes, the Promoter reserves the right to cancel, suspend or amend the Prize Draw or these Terms at any stage, but will use its reasonable efforts to minimise the effect to Participants in order to avoid undue disappointment.
  16. Case Studies must be the original work of the author(s).
  17. Any Participant shall indemnify the Promotor against all liabilities, costs, expenses, damages and losses (including any direct, indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of reputation and all interest, penalties and legal and other reasonable professional costs and expenses) suffered or incurred by the Promotor in connection with any claim made against the Promotor for actual or alleged infringement of a third party’s intellectual property rights arising out of or in connection with the Promotor’s use of the Participant’s Case Study.
  18. Personal data supplied during the course of this promotion will only be processed as set out in the Promoter’s [LINK TO PRIVACY POLICY]. See also condition 14 with regard to the announcement of winners.
  19. These Terms shall prevail in the event of any conflict or inconsistency with any other documents or communications, including any advertising or promotion materials issued from time to time.
  20. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax, national insurance (or other similar) contributions, deductions, reporting or liabilities. Income tax may be payable on the value of any Prize payable as a result of this Promotion, and any tax or other liability shall be solely the responsibility of participants.
  21. These terms and conditions and this promotion are governed by English law. If any entrants to this promotion wish to take court proceedings, then they must do this within the courts in the United Kingdom.

EDITORIAL AND PHOTOGRAPHIC REQUIREMENTS

Submissions and Case Studies must include or adhere to the following:

Author(s) The name, email address and contact numbers for all authors.
Case study title The name of the project or programme
Article sub-title A short (approx. 20 words) sub-title for the case study
Length Typically 1500-2000 words (minimum 1000 words)
Theme/Focus The case studies are technical articles aimed at engineers in the water industry and should focus on the design, construction and process technology elements of the project
Person Must be written in the third person
General structure
  1. Introduction: Case studies should start with the general location of the project, the population/PE served (if applicable), a brief description of the current facility, reason for the work/project drivers etc.
  2. Body of article: A technical description of the design, construction work, and process technologies and/or products/equipment (how they work, reason for selection etc) that have been utilised on the project.
  3. For treatment works: Consider following the flow of raw water/wastewater into the works, describing the processes stage by stage from the inlet works through to clean water into supply/treated wastewater to discharge to the river/sea.
  4. Innovations, cost savings & carbon reduction: If applicable, please highlight noteworthy innovations and savings.
  5. Conclusion/summary: Progress to date, successes, future phases, timings, performance results (if known) etc.
Table of designers, contractors and suppliers Please include a table of the key participants (company names and nature of involvement) including the main designers and main contractors, specialist consultants, sub-contractors, and the suppliers of key process plant/equipment and construction materials used on the project

  1. Option 1: The writer’s name and academic and professional qualifications as well as their job title and the full name of the company they represent.
  2. Option 2: Company name credit only.

Typically each photograph should have a file size of 2-3MB or larger (approximate pixel dimensions and number of photos required can be seen in the table below).

  • All images require a “Courtesy of … name of company …”credit.
