Civil Engineer (Water / Wastewater / Drainage)

As we continue to grow across the UK, Waterco Datrys has an exciting opportunity for a skilled Civil Engineer.

About the Role

Waterco Datrys is recruiting for a Civil Engineer to join our growing infrastructure team. This is a full‑time role based from one of our UK offices, with flexible working options. As a Civil Engineer, you will contribute to the design and delivery of water, wastewater, and drainage projects across the UK. Working as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you will support long‑term infrastructure programmes for major utility providers and public‑ and private‑sector clients.

You will be involved from concept through construction, undertaking design, analysis, client engagement, and on‑site activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, technical design, and contributing to sustainable infrastructure solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop designs for water supply, wastewater networks, pumping stations, and drainage systems.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Undertake hydraulic modelling and analysis for drainage and sewer systems.
  • Support planning applications, feasibility studies, and environmental assessments.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Conduct site inspections, surveys, and construction supervision when required.

 

About You

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (Master’s preferred but not essential).
  • Chartered or working toward chartership (ICE, CIWEM, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in water, wastewater, and drainage design.
  • Familiarity with SuDS, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in design and modelling software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage).
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
