Here at Atom Fabs we offer design, manufacture, supply and installation. Our scope of work includes pipework, sluice gates, platforms, hand railing, ships ladders and gratings.
We have BS EN 1090 EXC 2 – CE Marking accreditation and we are in the process of gaining ISO9001-ISO14001. We are Safe Contractor Approved and EHEDG Certified. All our site teams are Confined Space & IPAF trained.
Areas of expertise include:
- Welding: We have a team of highly qualified and experienced MIG and TIG welders able to take on any type of project.
- Waterjet cutting: Our Waterjet cutter has a 3000 x 1500 cutting bed and the flexibility to cut any flat patterns up to 200mm thick in various different materials.
- Folding: Our Amada press brake can fold up to 5mm stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium sheet in 3 metre lengths.
- Design: With the latest 3D software, we will work with you to produce a full suite of final product designs before manufacture.
- 3D Scanning: Our 3D scanning services are offered as a fast & accurate way of digitising physical objects for use in design, inspection and visualisation. The use of our 3D scanner can be applied to almost any product or structure to accurately capture the physical shape and dimensions.

Gilkes has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Hydro Field Service Engineer (Fort William) to join our well-established engineering organisation, based in Fort William, Scotland.
As part of a busy service team and reporting to the Field Service Supervisor, you will play a key role in providing front line customer support.
The Service Engineer plays a key role in maintaining customer assets to the highest levels The role has the following key elements:
- Troubleshooting – ability to quickly & effectively analyse and solve problems under pressure
- Emergency response – provide after-hours support (call-out) when required
- Safety – follow all on-site rules and regulations
Responsibilities Include:
- Performing troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and routine inspection of hydro-electric turbines and ancillary equipment
- Providing emergency response, after-hours support when required
- Liaising with other internal departments to ensure excellent levels of customer service
- Generate service and technical reports and be capable of working within a ‘permit to work’ environment is required
- Familiar with the following principals: Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic & Control Systems
