Construction Supervisor (Mechanical)

The Construction Supervisor (Mechanical) is required to provide suitable, effective and proactive supervision to Enpure sub-contractors and supply chain, ensuring that the Mechanical installation and commissioning within the Project are conducted in a safe, efficient and environmentally acceptable manner.

Supervision

  • Exercised: The supervision of Enpure Sub-contractors on site.
  • Received: Direction from the Construction Leader, Construction Manager or Project/Site Manager.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • To ensure compliance with company procedures, work instructions, guidance notes and other information that forms part of the Integrated Management and Project Delivery Systems.
  • To ensure the timely installation, testing and commissioning of all Mechanical equipment.
  • Represent Enpure in meeting Witness and Quality Hold Points in both Supplier Inspection and Test Plans, and Enpure Quality Plan.
  • Inspect and obtain acceptance of Mechanical installation by the Client.
  • Maintain the project “Snag List” with respect to Mechanical items of plant and ensure satisfactory rectification.
  • To undertake Mechanical acceptance/takeover demonstrations and to prepare and complete allrelevant documentation to record testing procedures to meet contractual and Company requirements.
  • Ensure that all relevant documentation is complete and accepted by the Client.
  • To mark up all site Mechanical and P&I drawings and assist in the production of ‘As Built’ drawings.
  • Ensure that, upon completion of Mechanical installation, the Sub-contractor demobilises and removes all surplus materials, leaving the site in a clean and tidy state.
  • Pro-actively ‘trouble shoot’ malfunctioning equipment and systems, and in accordance with specific project contract obligations perform appropriate corrective actions
  • To liaise with Client’s representatives at site level to agree modes of operation and, where applicable assist in the production of Method Statements to cover site activities.
  • To liaise with Vendors and Suppliers to ensure the correct installation prior to commissioning and operation of equipment and items of plant.
  • To assist in the production of a Project Daily Diary of events in conjunction with the Site Manager.
  • To report progress against the agreed programme and any delays to the Construction Manager.
  • To monitor the materials and workmanship of the Sub-contractor to ensure the works are installed in accordance with the ‘Approved for Construction’ drawings, materials and specifications.
  • To comply with all Health and Safety responsibilities commensurate with the role, as outlined in the Health and Safety policy.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the position as may be assigned from time to time

Performance Measures

  • The safe and successful installation and handover of Mechanical plant and equipment in accordance with defined programmes and specifications.
  • Proactive identification and rectification of any issues which may impact the project programme, cost, quality or safety performance
  • The completion of all Mechanical installation and Construction Completion Documentation.
  • The thorough and efficient mark up of drawings.
  • The efficient implementation of the Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH, Environmental Plan and other relevant statutory regulations.
  • The effective correction of plant snags and defects.

Qualifications/Skills A formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (HNC/HND as a minimum) Essential
SSSTS / SMSTS / CSCS Essential
IOSH Managing Safely in Construction or NEBOSH equivalent Desirable
First Aid at Work/Emergency First Aid Essential
Knowledge & Experience Demonstrable site experience, commensurate to the level of the role, within the water and wastewater industry and/or related sectors, some of which should be in a supervisory capacity. Essential
An understanding of temporary works procedures, particularly with regards to pressure testing Desirable
