Aquatic Control Engineering

ACE offers a comprehensive range of solutions spanning flood defences, land drainage pumping stations, water level management, and water flow control

Aquatic Control Engineering Ltd (ACE)

Founded in September 1995, Aquatic Control Engineering Ltd (ACE) was established to bring Dutch water flow control innovations to the UK and Irish marketplace. Thirty years on, the company has grown into one of the UK’s leading specialists in flood defence, water level management, and environmental water control — having delivered and project-managed large water flow control and pumping station schemes.

ACE offers a comprehensive range of solutions spanning flood defences, land drainage pumping stations, water level management, and water flow control — all designed with environmental responsibility at their core. The business operates as both principal contractor and sub-contractor to major Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors, with full in-house project management and installation capabilities.

ACE pioneered the introduction of HDPE and stainless steel water flow control products to the UK market, co-invented the eel pass with the Environment Agency and Rivers Trust, and now successfully delivers multi-million-pound pumping station projects as principal M&E contractors. Today, the company’s product portfolio spans heavy engineering flow control, fish-friendly pumps, eel and fish passage solutions, automatic weedscreen cleaners, and its own AQUIKO brand of water level management products.

ACE products are installed across major utility networks including Thames Water, Southern Water, Anglian Water, Severn Trent, United Utilities, and Welsh Water. The company also holds partnerships with Pentair Fairbanks Nijhuis and Fish Flow Innovations on pump projects.

ACE’s vision is simple: to protect people, property, and biodiversity with innovative and sustainable solutions. Based in Rampton, Nottinghamshire, the company continues to evolve — most recently through the development of AQUIKO, its own UK-manufactured brand of water flow control products, embedding improvements gathered across 25 years of supplying and installing specialist equipment to the water industry.
