Are you an experienced Senior Design Manager looking for your next opportunity? My client is seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Design Manager for their established team reporting directly to the Regional Engineering Lead and Technical Discipline Lead Manager on a variety of project on their Northern Ireland Water framework.

About the Role:

• To provide commitment to excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) in design, complying fully with relevant local specifications, codes, rules, regulations and requirements and all relevant H&S legislation.
• To ensure that H&S hazards are identified and managed and that residual risks are communicated effectively.
• To lead the Design team in delivery of their responsibilities and to ensure a focused approach to meet customer requirements and project objectives.
• To be accountable for the expenditure, efficiency challenge and overall out turn costs for the design element of project delivery, producing deliverables within the allocated resource hours and by key dates.
• To organise all elements of Design, documenting it in the Project Management Plan and preparing monthly status update reports as necessary.
• To attend and contribute to all relevant programme, project and technical meetings.
• To ensure that the technical solution is produced to outperform on costs, whilst maintaining quality standards and delivery on time.
• To provide where required, technical support during Assembly and Commissioning stages.
• To ensure that all technical work is undertaken to the correct Standards and Specifications, following the appropriate Systems of Work and Quality Assurance procedures.
• To contribute to achieving the sustainability targets, particularly by reducing the embodied and operational Carbon Footprints of the solutions.
• To communicate and work effectively with people from other partner organisations, backgrounds and disciplines, utilising their knowledge and experience and add to this with your own experience and know-how.
• To recognise and provide exceptional customer service both internally and with partners and externally with the Client, their Customers and the general public.
• Represent the whole of our clients business in all client contacts and promote the clients reputation.
• Maintain a positive and solution-oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback.
• Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role.
• In all internal and external contact, present a professional and positive image of our client, as well as maintaining mutually constructive, positive and beneficial relationships.
• Take all reasonable steps to ensure appropriate confidentiality.

Qualifications & experience

• Extensive experience of multi-disciplinary design management, in a design-build environment
• Degree in an engineering-related discipline
• Chartered Engineer in an engineering-related discipline
• Must be delivery-driven with the ability to set targets and manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver to time, cost and quality objectives
• Working knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety
• Extensive experience in large- scale project delivery
• Strategic, operational, technical and management skills
• Good general knowledge of all aspects of water treatment e.g. civil engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering and project management
• Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently, and convincingly.
• The ability to travel within region is expected as the role requires.
