We wanted to highlight a recent supply and install project we had the pleasure of being involved with at Testwood Water Supply Works in Southampton. What began as a fairly standard Under-Pressure Tee enquiry quickly ramped up into a major project, in which over a 100 Hawle Austria Group System 2000 End-Restraint Fittings were supplied by R2M and installed by our partners over at PSL Pipelines and Bill Veitch.

The customer initially contacted R2M’s Southern Region Account Manager Dan Carnera regarding a Under-Pressure Tee installation in February of this year, with a site survey and measurement quickly taking place and completed by Bill Veitch of PSL Pipelines. This ultimately resulted in 3 x 24″ UPT’s being supplied, installed and fully tested, with all work completed to a more than satisfactory level for the customer. However, the story doesn’t end there!

Discussions continued both on-site and in the office between R2M, PSL Pipelines and the customer. The main talking points with the project surrounded the fabrication of special PE road pipes and the design of the overall layout of the network at Testwood Water Supply Works. The customer asked for support from R2M on the choice of the fittings, pipe material and how the installation could be completed in the most efficient way.

How the next stages and installation went…

The design phase of this project is where the knowledge and expertise of our partners at PSL Pipelines came into play – with Bill Veitch himself having over … years of experience in the industry! Alongside technical support from R2M, Bill and the customer successful designed the network that would meet their requirements. Once this was finalised, the next stages of the project took place across April and May, with work commencing around 4 weeks after the final designs were finalised. During this period of time, all fabrication work and products to be supplied were delivered from Accrington to site ahead of the date installation was due to begin.

Bill and PSL Pipelines had previous experience working with the System 2000, but not with the shear amount of fittings the customer required for this project. Despite this, all installation work was completed by PSL Pipelines within 2 weeks and the target date set by the customer was met – with no problems or issues reported upon final testing.

The initial feedback from the customer and has been extremely positive. Given the volume of fittings installed during the 2 week window, it was always going to be a challenge to have everything completed. However, given the simple installation process a System 2000 has, the team over at PSL Pipelines had little to no issue and found the fitting to be excellent to work with as always!
