What you’ll be doing …

You will be responsible for performing all commercial management duties on construction contracts from Pre-construction through the Construction Phase to Final Account and Certificate.

  • Oversee the team in carrying out thorough financial negotiations as required in order to secure client contracts.
  • Form close working relationships with our clients to identify their precise requirements and ensure that pricing schedules allow for the delivery of projects that accurately meet their expectations.
  • Work with the project delivery team, prepare a realistic budget for schemes in order to maximise revenue, profit and reputation.
  • Advise on commercial matters and implications in the planning process to ensure that all works are carried out to the maximum efficiency.
  • Prepare labour pricing schedules for the delivery of the works under the PayGo pricing system and for subcontractors.
  • Prepare, submit and agree monthly interim valuations and final accounts to ensure timely processing of client invoicing and payment applications.
  • Manage change and identify, prepare, submit and agree early warning notices and compensation events as required under NEC and other contracts.

  • Compile monthly reconciliations and work in progress assessments for management accounts.
  • Manage risk and advise on mitigation of risk.
  • Review aged debt on a regular basis and manage outstanding retentions to ensure the business receives its cash from customers on a timely basis.
  • Receive enquiries and tenders for works not covered through Framework schedule of rates pricing.

Who we’re looking for …

  • Relevant HNC/D, degree in Quantity Surveying or significant work experience.
  • Experience of working with NEC contracts.
  • Previous experience with Estimating.
  • Possess strong IT skills, in particular MS Excel.
  • Full driving licence.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Civils Project Manager to join our Delivery Team. In this role, you will lead and deliver projects across both clean and wastewater sites for Yorkshire Water.

  • Up to £65k, plus a company car or car allowance

What you’ll be doing …

You will be responsible for delivering civils projects to the agreed programme, budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

  • Utilise specialist civils experience and capability to project manage the delivery of complex civils schemes between the value of £100k-£5m.
  • Plan effectively from pre-construction to post-construction in line with all relevant policies, procedures, and best working practices.
  • Ensure the role in the capacity of temporary works coordinator is fulfilled adequately and in line with training.
  • Produce site files, including but not limited to the project programme, RAMS, CPPs, and quality documentation.
  • Accept the role of principle contractor on behalf of the company, and if required, ensure the correct measures are in place for suitable management of sub- contractors.
  • Liaise with Civils Site Managers and Supervisors to take accountability for accurate and timely submission of completed works and time sheets for the team.
  • Ensure an understanding of the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and the allocated responsibilities under the Health and Safety At Work Act including those under the CDM Regulations 2015.
  • Hold responsibility and accountability for project performance including finance, health and safety, and quality.

Who we’re looking for …

  • Experience in project managing and delivering civils projects.
  • Possess a higher-level construction management qualification, or civil engineering degree.
  • Experience in managing pre-construction civils processes, creating a scope of works, supporting on tenders and producing programs.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance, CDM regulations and Regulations.
  • Experience with temporary works management.
  • Experience leading and mentoring a team.
  • Ability to read construction drawings.
  • Experience in writing RAMS and CPPs.
  • Ability to identify and manage risks, ensuring compliance with safe systems of work.
  • Strong IT skills, in particular MS Excel.
  • Full clean UK driving licence.
