Rocky Crescent WwPS
Project Summary
As part of a £1.4 million infrastructure improvement scheme, NI Water’s Killylea Road Pumping Station in West Armagh required a robust and hygienic wash water solution to support long-term operational demands.
Project Challenges
The upgrade of the Rocky Crescent wastewater pumping station formed part of a wider 15-month initiative to increase sewerage capacity, reduce flood risk, and improve water quality in the Callan River. The client required a weatherproof, hygienic and WRAS-compliant wash water system suitable for an exposed site. Ensuring the system could deliver dependable washdown functionality for long-term operations, while preventing any potential backflow contamination, was essential.
Project Solution
Dutypoint supplied a customised QuadraTANK® with integrated washdown functionality. The unit featured a 300-litre Category 5 break tank with AB air gap, ensuring full backflow protection and alignment with water regulations. It was fitted with a fixed speed single vertical multistage pump, a retractable hose reel and an adjustable washdown gun for convenient and efficient cleaning operations.
Key features of this bespoke wash water booster system included:
- Compact GRP weatherproof housing for year-round outdoor durability
- Internal insulation to maintain controlled internal temperatures
- Heater with thermostat for frost protection
- Wall-mounted control panel with start/stop push buttons and timer
- Lockable manway hatch and hinged access doors for secure maintenance access
- Lagged internal pipework for additional temperature stability
- Plug-and-play design for straightforward siting and installation
- This turnkey solution was delivered pre-assembled, allowing for a smooth and efficient integration into the site, with minimal disruption to the wider infrastructure upgrade works.
