Specialist Contract Lifting & Crane Hire: Supporting the Wanlip STW Redevelopment

Dewsbury & Proud has played a significant role in the ongoing redevelopment of Wanlip Sewage Treatment Works in Leicestershire, providing comprehensive CPA Contract Lifting and Crane Hire services across multiple stages of the construction programme.

From initial site assessments to detailed lift planning, the company’s experienced Appointed Persons have worked closely with the wider project team to develop suitable lifting solutions for a variety of construction activities, including complex installations requiring additional crane resources.

Among the most substantial operations have been six major bridge installations, comprising two primary settlement tank (PST) bridges and four final settlement tank (FST) bridges. These works have involved offloading individual structural sections, supporting their assembly on site and lifting the completed bridges into position. Elsewhere across the development, lifting activities have included the installation of pipework within the activated sludge plant (ASP), alongside positioning steelwork, scraper arms and specialist equipment throughout the treatment facilities.

Supporting these operations, Dewsbury & Proud has deployed more than 15 mobile cranes, ranging from 40 to 250 tonnes, complemented by Böcker truck-mounted cranes and specialist lifting accessories to accommodate varying site requirements.

Approximately 40 Dewsbury & Proud personnel have contributed to the redevelopment, including Appointed Persons, Crane Operators, Lift Supervisors and Slinger Signallers. Together, their expertise and on-site experience have enabled the company to support lifting requirements throughout successive stages of construction.
