Tank Sewer Storage for DG5 Flooding – Tunstead Milton, High Peak

110m of 1050mm tank sewer providing 85m³ of storage, removing properties from the DG5 flooding register

Tank Sewer Storage for DG5 Flooding - Tunstead Milton, High Peak

Client: United Utilities

Project Description / Main Operations

V J Donegan & Co Ltd were appointed as main contractor on this United Utilities project. United Utilities had a requirement within the AMP4 period to provide asset improvements that would remove properties from the DG5 flooding register.

During times of heavy rainfall the local combined sewer network would surcharge, causing foul sewage to emanate from the gullies, flooding local properties and closing Manchester Road.

Scope and method:

  • 110m of 1050mm tank sewer with 85m³ (85,000 litres) storage capacity for combined water.
  • 50m of 375mm and 35m of 225mm open-cut pipework.
  • 9 manhole chambers ranging from 1200mm to 3000mm diameter.
  • 30m of 225mm augerbore beneath Manchester Road, to minimise disruption along the busy rural route where no diversion route was available.
