Project Description / Main Operations

This project was carried out on behalf of Mott MacDonald Bentley, for Yorkshire Water. The contract included the construction of a 20.00m diameter segmental shaft approx. 23m deep, together with the associated tunnelling works.

Scope and method:

  • Construction of a 20.00m diameter segmental shaft, 23.00m deep.
  • Completion works to the above, including reinforced concrete base, benching, 1200mm diameter backdrop pipe, and 20.00m diameter precast concrete roof slab.
  • Construction of an 1800mm diameter tunnel approx. 130m in length, by pipejacking techniques using a backacter tunnelling machine.
