Project Description / Main Operations

This project was carried out on behalf of Mott MacDonald Bentley, for Yorkshire Water. The contract included the construction of a 20.00m diameter segmental shaft approx. 23m deep, together with the associated tunnelling works.

Scope and method:

Construction of a 20.00m diameter segmental shaft, 23.00m deep.
Completion works to the above, including reinforced concrete base, benching, 1200mm diameter backdrop pipe, and 20.00m diameter precast concrete roof slab.
Construction of an 1800mm diameter tunnel approx. 130m in length, by pipejacking techniques using a backacter tunnelling machine.
