ELIQUO HYDROK backs Children’s Sailing Trust SEND Regatta

ELIQUO HYDROK backs Children's Sailing Trust SEND Regatta

Pupils, aged 8 to 25 from six Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) schools across west Cornwall will take to Trevassack Lake on Tuesday 7 July as part of the Children’s Sailing Trust’s annual Inclusive Games Regatta, supported this year by Cornish engineering company ELIQUO HYDROK.

Held between 11pm and 1pm, the regatta marks the culmination of the school sailing season, bringing together pupils to enjoy practising the skills, teamwork and confidence they have developed throughout the year. Families and friends are invited to watch the activities and celebrate their achievements, which culminates in a medal giving ceremony.

ELIQUO HYDROK’s support forms part of the company’s ongoing commitment to the communities where it lives and works.

As a Cornish engineering business dedicated to protecting the water environment, supporting a charity that uses the county’s coastline to build confidence, independence and life skills in young people is a natural fit. It reflects ELIQUO HYDROK’s belief that creating a positive impact extends beyond the projects it delivers and into the communities it serves.

Peter Wroe, Co-Managing Director and CFO of ELIQUO HYDROK said:

“Our vision is to deliver world-class solutions for cleaner water and reduced pollution to land and air. Every day we work to protect one of our most valuable resources, but we also believe successful businesses have a responsibility to support the communities around them.

Children’s Sailing Trust gives young people opportunities to challenge themselves, build confidence and experience something many may never otherwise have the chance to do. We’re proud to support this year’s SEND Regatta and celebrate everything the pupils have achieved.

As ELIQUO HYDROK continues to grow, so does our commitment to Cornwall. We’re proud to support organisations that make a real difference while continuing to invest in our people and our future. That’s part of our mission to be the partner of choice for our customers and the employer of choice for talented people who want to make a positive impact.”

Rupert Whelan, Chief Instructor and Activity Manager said:

“The watersports centre developed here by Children’s Sailing Trust, was designed to be as inclusive and accessible as possible, with any and all activities available for all ages and abilities. We won the Gold award for inclusivity and accessibility in the Cornwall Tourism Awards, so it’s only natural that we celebrate the accomplishments of the students with our annual Inclusive School Games. We’re very happy that this year’s regatta can go ahead thanks to kind sponsorship from Eliquo Hydrok

Children’s Sailing Trust exists to make the benefits of sailing accessible to every child, regardless of background or ability. Through its SEND programme, young people develop confidence, resilience, communication and teamwork in a safe and supportive environment, often achieving things they never thought possible.”

The annual SEND Regatta celebrates those achievements, bringing together pupils, teachers, families and volunteers for an afternoon that recognises not only sailing ability, but determination, personal growth and teamwork.
