Job Description

We are currently recruiting Engineers across Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Process disciplines to work as Project Leaders to help support us in delivering work for some of the UK’s largest water and sewerage companies, including Northumbrian Water, Thames Water, Severn Trent, Yorkshire Water and Welsh Water.

We believe the best engineering projects are delivered by engineers, so we combine the traditional Project Manager and Engineer roles into a single, Project Leader role.

Do you want to:

  • Be part of a unique and dynamic Design-and-Build environment?
  • Project manage the design of water and wastewater projects?
  • Fast track your Chartership and attain a clear route for career progression?
  • Be a member of a multi-disciplinary project team, supporting both your, and the teams personal and professional development?
  • Have the flexibility of working from home, office and site?
  • Have the opportunity to see your designs brought to life?

What does a Project Leader do day to day?

  • Lead the design of water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects through the outline and detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover
  • Coordinate the project team including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Process designers and ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget, and to the quality defined by each framework and industry specifications
  • Work as part of a “Project triangle” alongside a Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor to ensure that technical, constructability and commercial aspects of project delivery are considered throughout.
  • Build positive relationships with the client project, operational and technical assurance teams and promote a “one-team” approach.
  • Support and mentor less experienced members of the team.
  • Visit sites across your frameworks region as required to develop the design and support the construction delivery of your projects (costs incurred are recoverable).

Candidate Specification

What you can offer?

  • ICE-accredited degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Chartered or Incorporated member of the ICE or demonstrable progress made in attaining the ICE attributes.
  • Outline and detailed design experience of water or wastewater projects.
  • Knowledge of the Designer or Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015

What we will give you:

  • An agile working arrangement that provides you flexibility whilst ensuring effective project delivery
  • Opportunities to develop your practical application of civil engineering, commercial acumen, management skills and health, safety, and sustainability leadership
  • A secure multi-million pound and multi-year programme of work
  • The opportunity to fast track your way towards chartership

We understand not everyone will meet all the requirements, so if you are excited about the role please get in touch anyway; potential and transferrable skills can be just as important.

At Mott MacDonald Bentley you will be offered a competitive salary which is commensurate based on your experience. Our core benefits include:

  • Pension matched up to 7%
  • Competitive annual leave and the option to purchase additional annual leave
  • Life assurance
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Annual professional institution subscription costs
  • Flexible benefits to suit you, including cycle to work scheme and interest free season ticket loans
